Book Description:Embark on a journey of science, history, and how-tos in the Celluloid Chronicles series’ first installment, The Complete Cyanotype Cyclopedia. Also known as solar printing, the Cyanotype photographic printing process has been around since 1842, serving both as a literal and figurative blueprint for modern-day photography. The colourful history of this monochrome printing process involves simple chemistry mixing that is easy and accessible for beginners. A forgiving developing process that makes starting from scratch a breeze, and a fascinating history that involves astronomy, botany, as well as a female author and scientist getting the recognition she deserves. Enjoy a book that mixes historical, scientific, and educational genres in a creative way that will not only teach but also entertain.About the author: Morgan Landry is a Toronto Metropolitan University graduate from Nova Scotia. Having a colourful background in farming and growing up in Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Morgan developed a love for nature and history. Currently, Morgan works in camera repair and restoration and has studied historical photographic processes throughout her degree. For her final thesis project, Morgan created an exhibit titled The Celluloid Chronicles. This exhibit showcased a log of some of the processes she studied during her education and, in the process, wrote the Celluloid Chronicle book series to make these processes more accessible. Having been diagnosed with dysgraphia in elementary school, Morgan noticed the difficulty new photographers, artists, and historians have when it comes to understanding material on historical photographic processes, and her goal is to make it more accessible and easier to understand for the average reader.
